16-Year-Old Suspect Arrested in Connection with Saticoy Shooting

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 16-year-old teen Sunday morning in connection with a shooting in Saticoy, an unincorporated area near Oxnard.

Authorities mentioned two victims in the incident, ages 30 and 24, but no injuries were reported.

The shooting occurred at about 10 a.m. in the 11000 block of Azahar Street. Deputies quickly located a male bicycle rider matching the description of the suspect given by witnesses. After a brief foot pursuit, the teen suspect was taken into custody.

A handgun was recovered next to the 16-year-old suspect, who authorities say is a documented gang member.

The teen was taken to the Juvenile Justice Facility and charged with attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition by prohibited person.

Investigators encourage anyone with additional information related to this incident to call Sgt. Anthony Aguirre at 805-384-4730.
