Lompoc’s Biggest Celebration of the Year

The theme for Lompoc’s 63rd annual Flower Festival and Parade is “This Land is Your Land”, and with all the fun, food, music and games at Ryon Memorial Park, its definitely made for you and me and all ages.

“Where else can you go in town to listen to live music, three dollars to get in, good food, lots of interesting things to look at”, says Janet Russell with the Lompoc Valley Flower Festival and Parade Association, “its our biggest event of the year.”

Thousands of people from the community and beyond flock to Ryon Park on Ocean Avenue with their families to enjoy the live music, a wide variety of freshly made food, carnival booths and rides for a dollar.

Its also a major fundraiser for local non-profit groups and community organizations.

“This is vital for our church to continue what we are doing to help those who are under-resourced in our community”, says Pastor Darren Hunt of New Hope Christian Church and his popular French Bread pizza booth.

Funnel cakes, kettle corn, cotton candy, corn dogs, quesadillas, jambalaya just a sample of the various food booths at Ryon Park.

“We enjoy coming down and listening to the music, the kids get up and dance they love it, they’ve got the rides for the kids, there’s food for everybody for sure”, one woman said about coming to Ryon Park with her large family.

The carnival rides and game booths are a favorite for all ages.

Lompoc Police and their partners in local law enforcement are on hand and on patrol in the park at all hours just in case they are needed.

“Just to make sure everybody is safe and has a great time”, says Lompoc Police Officer John Robles.

Saturday morning at 10:00am the Flower Festival Parade gets underway on H Street and Ocean Avenue.

Ryon Park opens at 10:00am Saturday and Sunday.
