One Person Dead After Being Electrocuted in Santa Maria
One person is dead after being electrocuted while working on an underground pump in Santa Maria.
Emergency crews responded to the 3500 block of Dominion Road at about 11:35 a.m. Saturday. They found two 20-year-old men suffering from electrical injuries.
One of the victims suffered major injuries to his hands and feet. He was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
The second male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the two men were working on an underground pump that connected to an underground well, when their equipment came into contact with a live electrical wire that was under the ground.
PG&E arrived to the scene to provide assistance to emergency crews, and find a way to deal with the energized equipment in a safe way.
