Contestants Revealed to Dance at Oxnard Salsa Festival

Dancing With Our Community Stars kicked off Thursday night in Oxnard.

The six contestants were revealed at The Kitchen in Oxnard at a kick-off party.

They include Meteorologist Meredith Garofalo and Edgar Mahorko of the Oxnard Police Activities League.

The President of the Oxnard Downtowners said it’s a great community event as in the last 10 years, they’ve raised more than one million dollars.

“It’s to help these charities grow and become relevant in their communities because of funds that they raised,” Pablo Ortiz said.

Meredith will dance for the Make-A-Wish Tri-Counties.

The other dancers and their charities include Georgina Garcia for Coalition for Family Harmony, Jim Duran for the City Center Transitional Home, MaryJo Leste for Loving Heart Hospice, Edgar Mohorko, Jr, for the Oxnard Police Activities League, and Christina Alpert for Soroptomists of Oxnard.

The 22nd annual Oxnard Salsa Festival is at Plaza Park the last weekend in July.
