Open-Water Helicopter Rescue Training Near UC Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara County Fire conducted a number of open-water rescue training operations at UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday.

The training was designed for open-water rescues in the area surrounding UCSB’s campus and Goleta Beach.

The complex training involved multi-agency cooperations, coordination and communication with the use of a helicopter and boat by emergency responders.

The operations were held on the Lagoon Island helipad west of the Campus Point stairs.

Access to Lagoon Island was limited during the time of the training.
