Lompoc Community Comes Together To Boost Tourism

Wednesday night at the Dick DeWees Community Center, over a hundred business owners and residents attended a marketing presentation designed to showcase ways Explore Lompoc plans to reel in more people to the city.

Explore Lompoc is a group of 12 hotel owners who got together to improve the city’s popularity.

Ryan Zotivich, winemaker at Zotivich Cellars, said he is looking forward to seeing what new marketing strategies can do for his business and the city.

“As we grow, the city grows, and vice versa,” Zotivich said. “So it’s a real symbiotic relationship and that’s good [because] there’s going to be more people coming into town and more people spending money here and ultimately that’ll be good for the community.”

Paul Patel, board president of Lompoc’s Tourism Business District, said “when the economy slowed down and there were budget cuts there was no marketing dollars” to use to bring more tourists to Lompoc.
