UPDATE: Store Owner Assaulted in Santa Maria Robbery
UPDATE: Investigators said the suspect in this robbery case was at home watching a local news broadcast with his parents when he saw photos of himself from the surveillance tape. The suspect was then brought to the Santa Maria Police Station by his parents.
The 17-year-old suspect was charged with robbery and booked into juvenile hall.
[Original Report] Santa Maria Police are seeking the public’s help to identify the suspect in a strong-arm robbery that happened on Christmas Day.
Investigators say a young man, described as a 16-year-old Hispanic about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds, walked into the Blosser Market on 401 South Blosser Road.
The suspect then took merchandise from the store and assaulted the store owner/clerk before fleeing the store without paying.
Police have not commented on any possible injuries sustained by the assault.
Police were able to obtain a photo of the robber and have released a short surveillance video of the suspect, which you may watch below.
