Gamers Upset Over Playstation Hack
The PlayStation Network is back online Sunday, after hackers shut it down Christmas Day.
Sony released a message posted to the PlayStation Blog:
“PlayStation Network is back online. As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days. Thanks again for your support and patience. We’ll provide any further updates here.”
A hacker group known as Lizard Squad claimed responsibility.
Local gamers were upset at the disruption in their games.
“You are ruining peoples lives, what they want to do, how they want to have fun,” said Cole Wenal of Santa Barbara.
The recent hack on Sony Pictures linked by U.S. Officials to North Korea over the controversial movie The Interview does not appear to be connected to this incident.
Microsoft’s Xbox site was also hacked on Christmas Day, but was up and running by Friday morning.
