Santa Barbara City Fire Gets New Breathing Equipment

Santa Barbara City fire fighters will be receiving new breathing equipment to help when battling dangerous blazes.

The department will be receiving 85 new breathing units. It’s being paid for by a grant that totals more than half a million dollars–making it the largest grant ever received by the fire department.

The Santa Barbara City Council approved the money from the Department of Homeland Security.

The self contained breathing units currently used by the department are more than twenty years old.
