Man Arrested During Standoff Once Jeweler To The Stars

A Montecito man arrested during an early-morning standoff used to be a jeweler to the stars.

One of David Tallman’s customers said she once bought a $16,000 gold and gem covered Tahitian boar’s tusk that is similar to designs the jeweler made for Mick Jagger and Yoko Ono.

Diana Fornas called Tallman talented and kind-hearted.

In recent years, his neighbors called him unstable.

One neighbor said he showed up in his underwear and tried to sell jewelry to his wife.

Other neighbors said he had a heroin problem and burned bridges by borrowing money without paying it back.

Tallman, 66, was facing eviction but had been offered a place to stay.

He is accused of making threats and resisting arrest.

Deputies said he was taken to a hospital for an medical evaluation.
