Workers Protest Labor Practices on University of California Campuses

Protests took place across University of California campuses Wednesday. Patient care and service workers claim they were intimidated and threatened by UC officials during contract negotiations.

At UCSB, hundreds of custodians, cooks, landscapers and other unionized employees of the UC system hit the picket lines early Wednesday morning.

Statewide, 20,000 union members protested alleged “intimidation tactics” by UC officials during a two-day walkout in May over staffing levels and other grievances.
