Caltrans wants to rebuild dangerous curves on Highway 101

Caltrans wants to know what you think of a plan to redesign two curves on Highway 101.

The existing curves are on the northbound side of Highway 101 right before the Gaviota rest stop. Caltrans says there is a history of drivers running off the road and crashing in the area. Caltrans wants to turn the sharp curves into one curve that isn’t as sharp.

A public meeting on the proposal is scheduled at Vista de Las Cruces School in Gaviota for June 5th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

You can view the plans by visiting the link below.

The public may submit written comments until June 22 to Matt Fowler, Caltrans, 50 Higuera St., San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 or you may email your comments to matt.c.fowler@dot.ca.gov
