Doctor helps people see for free

A retired ophthalmologist has spent the last 18 years making sure disadvantaged people up and down the coast can see properly.

Dr. George Primbs has been traveling to developing nations for decades helping people see better. Now, he does the same work in the local community. His time is free of charge for people in need.

Dr. Primbs helps everyone from kids who can’t see the whiteboard in school to elderly people who have cataracts. He also refers patients who need surgery to surgeons who do pro bono work.

Many of the patients are able to get free eyeglasses from the Santa Barbara Eyeglass Factory.

Many nonprofit organizations will help connect you to with the free vision services. You can also contact Surgical Eye Expeditions.
