2-year-old hit by a car near his home

A car hit a 2-year-old boy Monday afternoon in an alley near the 500 block of East Mill Street.

The boy ran into the path of a car after running in the alley behind his Santa Maria home.

He suffered cuts on his face and legs. The driver, a 20-year-old Santa Maria resident, was uninjured and was licensed and had valid insurance.

The two year old was taken to Marian Hospital, where he is being treated for minor injuries. Both of the boy’s parents were present at the time of the accident.
