Camarillo considers porn permit options

Porn producers appear to be looking for new places to film.

Los Angeles County and the cities of Los Angeles and Simi Valley passed condom ordinances last year, requiring adult film actors to practice safe sex.

At least three adult film companies have inquired about film permits in Camarillo.

They have also asked whether the city has a condom ordinance or other conditions.

The City Council voted unanimously, Wednesday night, to pass an urgency ordinance that establishes a 45-day moratorium on the issuance of adult film and adult film-related permits.

Brian Pierik, the city attorney, calls it a “timeout” to give them time to study the impact of adult film making on public health and welfare.

Pierik said cities can’t stop porn from being made, but they can adopt rules.

People who live in Camarillo call it a hot topic.

The city will take up the issue again in mid-May.
