“Get Together” benefit honors David Crosby and others during Fest Forums finale
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- Fest Forums wrapped up with the "Get Together" benefit at the Lobero Theatre.
Jessie Colin Young, and his daughter Jazzie, Stephen Stills' son Chris, John Fogerty's sons Shane and Tyler, Leon Russell's son Teddy Jack, The Tribe, and others performed.
During "Get Together", they all took the stage and encouraged the audience to sing the lyrics, "Smile on your brother, get together, try to love on another right now."Â Â
John Fogerty was on hand to introduce his sons but did not perform.
The benefit raised money for the Get Together Foundation that serves underprivileged children.
The show also included a memorial tribute to Santa Barbara County resident and rock star David Crosby, Newport Folk and later Jazz Festival creator George Wein, Glastonbury's commercial director Robert Richards and Woodstock Creator Michael Lang
The show included a slideshow by Woodstock photographer Henry Diltz.
"I love being here at Fest Forums, first of all I love Santa Barbara, I come up here as often as I can and up in the Santa Ynez Valley as well, so it is great up here," said Diltz, "I saw so many old friends and so many people at the Fest Forums."
Diltz shared photos of the late Crosby and Lang.
He called Michael Lang the spirit of Woodstock.
"He was an angel, he is the reason Woodstock was Woodstock, you know, why it was 3 days of peace and well, peace and music."
Another highlight of the evening was Chris Stills performing "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes," a song written by his father.
The was the sixth Fest Forums after a 3 year pandemic pause.
People took part in forums and shared festival ideas and products at the Music Academy.
Festival producers said fans will have more small festivals to choose from in the future.
