Talented teens sing at 11th season of Teen Star
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Talented teens sang their hearts out during auditions for the 11th season of Teen Star.
More than 50 candidates ranging from 7th to 12th grade participated in the audition.
“We have our objective for the kids to build their confidence, give them skills to work on, and teach them the whole process of auditioning,” said founder Joe Lambert of Teen Star.
Unlike other singing competitions, the judges focus on helping singers develop their performance skills while building creativity.
“They give you constructive criticism that can help you if you become a finalist which is different from other audition processes,” said contestant Holly Hadsall.
2015 winner Sydney Shalhoob believes this is a chance for singers to showcase their talents in a supportive environment.
“I hope everyone realizes that they can keep trying out. If you don't make it then you can keep trying,” said Shalhoob.
Organizers hope this experience will instill professionalism and reward hard work.
Teen Star also provides opportunities for the winners to be heard at important civic events throughout Santa Barbara County.
