Marian Extended Care Staff Celebrate Flo Sasse’s 105th Birthday

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (KEYT) - Staff at Marian Extended Care are preparing to welcome the family and friends of a patient turning 105 years old this week.

On Saturday, Florence “Flo” Sasse will be officially completing her 105th cycle around the sun.

A birthday party is being organized for this Wednesday by hospital staff, where Flo’s family and friends will be welcome.

Flo grew up in North Dakota, walking 3 1/2 miles to and from school in a one-room schoolhouse.

She grew up to become an elementary school teacher, and taught in the US as well as overseas in locations like Guam and Iran.

Her husband Elmer worked in construction and passed away in 1981.

Flo says she’s always been notorious for spending too much time on her hair, and that the secret to longevity is living in the moment without counting the days.
