‘X Games’ competition kicks off in Ventura County Fairgrounds
VENTURA, Calif. – Thousands of people are headed to Ventura this morning for the X Games.
The world-famous competition features some of the best in skateboarding, BMX, and Moto-X.
The x games have been held worldwide, but this is the first time the games have come to Ventura.
Many in the community are excited to watch the action over the next three days.
I spoke to many people earlier today, including the one and only Selema Masekela.
He is the face of X Games as the host for this year in Ventura.
Locally, two people from the Central and South Coasts are competing this year.
Curren Caples of Ventura will compete in the men’s skateboard street category.
Tyler Bereman of Templeton will compete for Moto-X best whip and the quaterpipe high air.
Masekela said these two athletes are something the community should look forward to.
“I think that for for tyler on his dirt bike and curren caples you going to expect them to to want to put on a good show,” said Masekela. “You know this is a home game for them and it's very, very rare that you get to be at an X Games where you're at home in front of your home, your hometown crowd.”
Amtrak has teamed up with the X Games to make it easier to get to the fairgrounds, where there is a designated stop.
There was a long line of people waiting to get in Friday morning.
Some roads that will be closed, so it is important to keep that in mind when it comes to traffic.
You can also watch the action on ESPN, ESPN 2, Youtube, Twitch, and right here on News Channel 3 on Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets are sold out for Saturday, but a few are still available Friday and Sunday.
