City of Santa Maria receives $6.1 million grant for new athletic park

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – The City of Santa Maria will have a new athletic park.

The City received a $6.1 million grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation's Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program.

The city has been proposing the sports complex over the last few years.

With this new grant, it will make headway to getting the process going.

On top of that, Santa Barbara County received three additional grants from the state.

The City of Guadalupe received over $4.8 million dollars to renovate Central Park.

The City of Lompoc also received over $3.6 million dollars to renovate College Park.

The state provided Isla Vista with a grant of over $4.2 million dollars to renovate the Children's Park.

There will be a press conference, specifically for the City of Santa Maria's grant.

It will be at 2 p.m. at the Minami Community Center, located at 600 West Enos Drive.

A total of $548.3 million was granted across the state.
