GOLETA, Calif. - Goleta families in need were able to pick up boxes of fresh produce at the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County's weekly distribution event on Saturday.

This week's event was held in the Deckers parking lot from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Goleta.

The Foodbank explained it holds these distribution events on Saturdays to give more working residents the opportunity to collect healthy, fresh food for their families.

"Saturday's distribution is to make sure the families have food to eat," said Anthony Rodriguez, Operations and Disaster Services Specialist with the Foodbank. "We're doing it every Saturday with different locations throughout the community from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. They can go onto our website at foodbanksbc.org and get more information about that."

The boxes of food contained spring and summer produce like strawberries, potatoes and cabbages.

The Foodbank said there are still a lot of people in need in the community who were hit hard by the pandmeic.
