New popup aimed to help students pay for college

FIFTY PAPAYA

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Organizers of a new popup clothing sale are working to help students earn their way through college expenses in Santa Barbara.

"Fifty Papaya" originally started on Instagram.

Now, for the first time, organizers decided to take their used clothing and jewelry sale to a local park this Saturday morning.

Founder Kayla Cuykendall said this is an opportunity for students to sell used items such as clothing, shoes, jewelry and other objects in order to help with their college tuition.

"It's helping a lot of the youth in Santa Barbara. Most people here are around 18. Everyone needs money to support themselves and so we're here to trade and sell,” Cuykendall said.

More than 25 students took part in Saturday's popup event.
