Santa Maria city leaders offer free sand in light of wet weather

CITY OF SANTA MARIA

Santa Maria city leaders said they haven't seen any major problems from the rain.

There were no reports of road closures or downed trees due to the rainfall.

But just in case, the city is welcoming people to fill up bags with sand
at the public works yard.

As the rain continues, drivers are encouraged to go slower with their headlights on.

You also want to make sure to leave enough space between you and the car in
front of you.

If it rains really hard, you might want to stock up on food and water so you
don't have to make that extra trip when it's dark and the roads are slick, said spokesperson Mark van de Kamp of the City of Santa Maria.

City leaders also recommend giving yourself extra time to get where you're going during this rainy forecast.
