Six foster children get adopted during National Adoption Month in Santa Barbara County
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. -- Six Santa Barbara County foster children were adopted during a National Adoption Month event on Wednesday.
Local organization Our County. Our Kids. celebrated National Adoption Month with the adoption of six local Santa Barbara County children and youth in foster care.
Our County. Our Kids. is a Santa Barbara County Department of Social Services program that is a local resource for family recruitment, retention and support program.
Families and children attended the event at the Santa Maria Juvenile Court on Wednesday afternoon in celebration of four boys and two girls between the ages of one and fifteen getting adopted into forever homes.
Families were invited to a special adoption day event at the court.
The event had fun activities for children including, a photo booth with arts and crafts provided by Children's Resources and Referral of Santa Barbara, face painting provided by CASA of Santa Barbara County as well as balloon animals and more.
Operations Manager of Adult and Children Services Marianne Reagan said in a statement of the event:
"Adoption Day is a day of love, of family, and hope for the future. Having a forever family is every child’s right, and is the foundation for children to grow and thrive."
