City leaders launch summer social program for seniors in Carpinteria

CARPINTERIA, Calif. – City leaders are launching a new summer program for seniors after seeing a growing need for senior activities in Carpinteria.

The Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center will be hosting Senior Socials twice a week for seniors in Carpinteria.

This program offers seniors a chance for friendly conversation, an opportunity to get out of the house and a chance to try something new.

Held each Tuesday and Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, activities include bingo, arts and crafts, book club, social time and more.

City leaders said the development of Senior Socials was a group effort with organizations including Girls Inc., local business owners and seniors from the community.

The program is free and any senior can join.

City leaders hope the program will serve as a chance for more seniors to get to know one another.

The next Senior Social is on Tuesday, June 27 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center.
