One dead in Tuesday night highway 101 traffic collision

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.– 38-year-old Isaldo Arellano Santiago died on-site of a traffic collision involving a wrong-way driver Tuesday night on highway 101 near Paso Robles, according to CHP Templeton.

CHP Templeton reported a 2020 Nissan Sentra was driving the wrong way on highway 101 south and collided head on with Arellano-Santiago.

CalFire SLO and Paso Robles City Fire responded to the crash. Extraction was needed to rescue the occupants from the wreckage. The two occupants of the Nissan Sentra sustained injury and one was transported to Sierra Vista Trauma Center, while the second person denied medical attention.

Arellano-Santiago was pronounced decease at the scene. CHP believes alcohol was a factor in the collision. The crash remains under investigation
