SANTA MARIA, Calif. - There’s a new restaurant in town, and it's attracting chicken lovers everywhere.

"We were counting down the days ‘til this one opened so we wanted to be here
on day one," said customer Michael Suel of Raising Cane's.

"I think it’s all about you know the protein … getting the protein in and
you know the fried chicken you can’t go wrong everybody loves it all ages," said marketing manager Oscar Rembao of Raising Cane's.

Customers from out of town showed up for the grand opening of Raising
Cane's restaurant.

"Because it’s the first day of course and I’m from Bakersfield so there’s a
canes there so I have to I have to get here now so I don’t have to travel
all the way to Bakersfield to get it," said customer Krista Garza of Raising Cane's.

The fast-food restaurant, located on Betteravia Road isn't the only place
specializing in chicken nearby.

There’s Chik-fil-A, Buffalo Wild Wings, Wingstop, Popeye’s and
more.

"I think it’s just a cheaper healthier protein option to go to and people
love chicken," said general manager Tim Foreman of Raising Cane's

"Nonstop the line is wrapped all the way around and we love Annette we’re
moving the line quick enough we can’t can’t wait to continue doing it all
day long," said Rembao.

Managers say they’re not only excited to serve chicken to customers, but
they’re looking forward to being part of a growing community.

"Yeah we have a great relationship with Audie we’re all looking forward to
helping each other out and growing each other‘s businesses so it’s been
really good," said Foreman.

"I plan to come all the time of course mostly when I crave chicken," said Garza.

Managers say the earliest customer arrived Thursday evening close to midnight.
