Golf Classic raises money for Boys and Girls Club
OJAI, Calif. — The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Ventura hosted its 37th annual golf classic on Thursday.
The charity event was held throughout the afternoon at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa.
Battling through brutally hot temperatures, 96 golfers participated in the annual competition.
All proceeds directly benefitted the youth-serving organization.
"If it wasn't for them and coming out and supporting, we really wouldn't have the resources and funding to really help the kids that need it most,” Boys & Girls Club of Greater Ventura resource development director Peter McClintock said.
Each year, the club serves more than 6,500 families through the central coast.
It helps provide a place for youth to become healthy, responsible, confident and productive members of the community.
"All the money raised from the golf tournament is going to the club," Boys & Girls Club of Greater Ventura Administrative Assistant Denise Claudio said. "Going to the kids and operations."
The club’s four sites in Ventura, Oak View and Saticoy are open year-round after-school and in the summertime to all youth between the ages of 6 to 18.
Throughout the pandemic, the organization has been offering full day programing for students dealing with the difficulties of distance learning.
To help raise even more funds for the kids, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Ventura is hosting a virtual auction on Saturday, October 24th.
