6th Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s employee tests positive for COVID-19

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - A sixth employee of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has tested positive for COVID-19.

The sheriff's deputy is recovering at home after receiving the results of their test.

The deputy is assigned to patrol at the Santa Maria station and last worked on Saturday.

On Sunday the deputy began experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19 and was tested on Monday. The deputy was on scheduled days off while awaiting results of the test.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office consulted with the County Public Health Department and determined no one else needed to be isolated as a result of the new case.

This is the sixth Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office employee to test positive for COVID-19.
