Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital reaches milestone in remodeling project for emergency department

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital reached a milestone in its latest remodeling project as it unveils its newly remodeled emergency department.

Thanks to the renovation, the emergency department now has the ability to serve more patients and remain prepared for future healthcare needs.

The renovation includes a new patient care model with a specific area for prompt evaluation.

The state-of-the-art care has a new waiting area, staffed by nurses, where low-acuity patients can wait for test results before discharge.

Everyone entering will be scanned to ensure prohibited items such as weapons, cigarettes, vapes and lighters are not brought into the hospital.

Doctors believe the expanded Level 1 Trauma Center and Emergency Department will revolutionize their workflow and the way they deliver care for patients.

The remaining phase of the emergency department remodel will focus on the trauma ambulance bay and rooms.
