Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic renews health standard accreditation

SANTA YNEZ, Calif. - The Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic successfully renewed its accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) on Friday.

AAAHC is a leader in ambulatory health care accreditation with more than 6,100 organizations accredited.

The AAAHC accreditation process requires self-evaluations, peer reviews, and education for the clinic seeking accreditation to continuously improve its care and services.

The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians said the organization seeking accreditation is also subject to thorough surveys by health care professionals every three years.

Kenneth Kahn, Tribal Chairman for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians said, "Since first receiving this national distinction in 2013, having our Tribal Health Clinic certified by the industry leader in health care accreditation has been a source of pride for our tribe.”

Ron Sisson, Executive Director for the Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic said, “This accreditation represents the gold standard in the health care industry, and it demonstrates to our patients that the organization has ‘passed the test’ and is committed to providing high quality care.”

The AAAHC accredits a wide range of health centers and clinics including Indian/Tribal health centers.

The Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic is located on the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians’ reservation and offers medical, dental and behavioral health services to all members of the Santa Ynez community.
