Suspect remains at large in Santa Paula shooting

The Santa Paula Police Department is investigating a Wednesday night shooting that left a 26-year-old Santa Paula man suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Police say the victim was walking in the 100 block of South 7th Street just after 7 p.m. when he was confronted by a Hispanic man who asked the victim if he was a gang member. The victim said no but was shot by the suspect who fled in an unknown direction.

The victim was contacted by police at a home in the 200 block of Standford Street at 7:29 p.m. but he was unable to provide investigators with a better description of the suspect.
