Warming center to open in Santa Maria because of cold temps

Cold temperatures are expected to hit the Central Coast Monday night.

In some areas temperatures will be near freezing and in other locations they will be dipping below freezing. That’s why Santa Barbara County is opening several warming centers from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Dec. 19 at the following locations:

Santa Maria – Salvation Army: 200 W. Cook Street Lompoc – Peace Lutheran Church: 100 W. Ocean Boulevard Santa Barbara – Unitarians Society of Santa Barbara: 1535 Santa Barbara Street Isla Vista 0 University Methodist Church: 892 Camino del Sur Carpinteria – Veteran Memorial Building: 941 Walnut Avenue

Additionally, a warming center will be opening at the 1st Congregational Church located at 2101 State Street in Santa Barbara Monday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
