Officials: Soberanes Fire now 100 percent contained
The Soberanes Fire in Los Padres National Forest is now 100 percent contained.
Los Padres National Forest and Central Coast Incident Management Team announced Wednesday that the fire, which burned 132,127 acres, was 100 percent contained after 83 days of firefighting.
The fire was sparked by an illegal campfire in Garrapata State Park on July 22.
Fire officials said that although the fire is contained and hasn’t spread in multiple days, the fire is not under complete control and smoldering areas will continue to produce smoke.
The fire will be determined completely controlled after a season-ending rain event occurs in the next two months.
