UPDATE: Sheriff’s Office identifies female pedestrian killed in overnight collision on 101 in Santa Barbara
UPDATE: The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office identified the victim of the accident as Debra Reynoso, 57 of Santa Barbara.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Reynoso was killed on Highway 101 near Castillo Street in Santa Barbara Tuesday morning. The accident was reported to the California Highway Patrol moments before midnight.
She was stuck by a 2001 Buick Le Sabre as she attempted to cross the lanes of the freeway, according to the CHP. Paramedics pronounced her deceased on scene at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday.
The southbound lanes were closed for two-and-half hours as emergency responders tended to the incident. The number two and number three lanes reopened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. The number one lane remains closed for construction.
The driver of the Buick stopped, called 911 and remained at the scene. The driver sustained no injuries and is not suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
