Butane Tank Explosion Injures 3 Women At Cachuma Lake

Three women are in the hospital with first-degree, and second-degree burns following a butane tank explosion at Cachuma Lake.

Santa Barbara County Fire crews responded to reports of a propane tank explosion at the lake campgrounds at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

“Upon arrival, firefighters discovered it was a butane tank from a camp stove that had exploded while in use,” said Capt. Dave Zaniboni with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

All three women were treated on scene by medics, and were then transported to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
