Missing Man Comes From Family Of Award Winning Sound Engineers

A family known for award-winning sound engineers hasn’t heard from Cody West since Sunday.

West disappeared from a Goleta party early Sunday morning. His car, a silver 1999 Audi Quattro with license number 4HAZ784, is missing too.

Cody’s grandfather won the Academy Award for Best Sound for the film “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.” Despite coping with leukemia, he spent the day looking for Cody alongside his son David.

David West followed in his father’s footsteps, winning two Emmys for “X Files.”

He drove around in tears and hopes his Hollywood credential might help spread the word about his only son.

Cody has four sisters.

His brother-in-law Owen Grohman spent much of Thursday thanking volunteers who showed up to search an area near Lake Los Carneros. That’s where the last location ping signal came from Cody’s phone Sunday morning.

Grohman said Cody has a prior DUI and was expected to get a ride home from a party near La Patera Lane in Goleta.

Search and Rescue crews with a K-9 searched the dry ground as a sheriff’s helicopter flew overhead.

Relatives reported Cody missing failed to show up for work at Jane restaurant on State Street in Santa Barbara on Monday.

Friends from his Bishop Diego High alma mater said he wouldn’t skip work without calling.

They said he was still living at home with his mom and attending Santa Barbara City College.

Anyone with information about Cody West or his car is urged to call the Sheriff’s Anonymous Tip-Line at 805-681-4171 or call 911.
