Surf ‘n’ Suds beer festival by the beach comes to Carpinteria
Craft beer makers and surfboard shapers will be side by side in Carpinteria this Saturday for the DEEP magazine Surf ‘n Suds beer festival by the beach.
It’s the first year for the event on Linden Avenue in the grass field at Carpinteria State Beach.
40 breweries and 12 surfboard shapers will be represented.
There will also be a special tent showing eight short surf movies.
Island Brewing Company owner, Paul Wright has been part of the planning team and will be in the VIP area to answer questions from beer lovers about the rapidly growing industry. Island Brewing is one of the many award winning breweries that will be serving samples.
The special VIP zone will also offer limited edition and one of a kind beers.
There will be food trucks on hand for those who are hungry including the Burger Bus, and Tiki Taco.
These events are “a learning process,” said Wright. “They may like one type of beer but by the end of the day they will learn about others and come away with an education, and many tastings. If you normally like the lighter beers then this is the time to try stouts, porters and IPA’s.”
The event is expected to bring over 1000 people to Carpinteria for the festival and to see the city. “It’s a great community, there’s a lot of great restaurants for an ‘after festival’,” said Wright.
He also said traveling by train from Santa Barbara is only $6.00.
