Brush fire near HWY 46 east of Paso Robles fully contained at 64.5 acres
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - A 10-acre brush fire broke out off Highway 46 east of Paso Robles on Saturday.
The fire was reported around 5:07 p.m. next to the eastbound lanes of the highway near Geneseo Road.
As of 5:30 p.m. Saturday, crews said the fire had burned about 10 acres and was spreading at a moderate rate. Firefighters said the fire had the potential to grow up to 50 acres.
By 6 p.m., crews estimated the fire had exploded to 75 acres in size, and air support helicopters were being utilized to drop water on the spreading flames.

Fortunately, quick work by crews had the fire 50% contained by 7 p.m. with expectations to have the fire fully contained within a few hours.
Full containment was finally reached by 10 p.m. that night. CAL FIRE said a final map of the burn showed it had reached a total 64.5 acres in size.
CAL FIRE said the cause of the fire was determined to be exhaust carbon particles.
CHP instated some traffic restrictions in the area.
