Millions of last-minute tax filers
The Internal Revenue Service says millions of Americans wait until the last minute to file their tax returns.
NewsChannel 3 found a steady stream of people picking up forms at local post offices Monday. We even found a woman filling out her paperwork at a Santa Barbara post office.
Most local post offices no longer have extended hours on April 15th. But, you can still file your taxes online before midnight.
Tax preparers say if you don’t think you will finish your return in time to e-file or get to a post office before it closes, you should file for an extension to avoid fines for filing late.
