API Scores Soar
The state released Academic Performance Index scores today and many schools are celebrating.The average score of high schools in Oxnard, Port Hueneme, El Rio and Camarillo rose 25 points this year.The increase includes English learners, students with disabilities and students from low income families.The Oxnard Union High School District Superintendent says growth at the high school level is usually challenging.Gabe Soumakian calls the improvement remarkable.The state set an API goal of 800 points out of a thousand.Adolfo Camarillo scored 869 points, a 21 point increase.Pacifica High had the second highest district score of 754, an increase of 22 points.Rio Mesa and Oxnard were close behind.
