40-year-old Santa Barbara man accused of soliciting teen for sex

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A 40-year-old Santa Barbara man was arrested for allegedly soliciting a teenage girl to engage in sexual activity.

On May 19, Santa Barbara Police detectives received info from the FBI on a cyber tip from a social media source about inappropriate and illegal messages between two users.

They identified a 40-year-old man from Santa Barbara who was allegedly soliciting a teen girl to engage in sexual activity.

Detectives began an investigation on the case and found that the teen did not previously report the crimes.

Detectives located the teen and conducted an interview with her parent's present.

Later that day, detectives located the 40-year-old man and arrested him for communicating with a minor for sex acts and arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd acts.

Police say the suspect is currently on parole.

He is being held at the Santa Barbara County Jail without bail and the investigation is ongoing.
