St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard receives $88,000 grant for labor, delivery equipment
OXNARD, Calif. - St. John’s Regional Medical Center, a Dignity Health hospital, is the recipient of a generous grant from the Harriet H. Samuelsson Foundation.
The hospital received $88,000 which it will use to purchase GE PandaTM iRes Infant Warmers for its four new labor and delivery rooms expected to open this summer.
“We are grateful to The Harriet H. Samuelsson Foundation for this very generous donation,” said Shareen Taylor Bishop, Director of Perinatal Services at SJRMC. “The Panda Warmers keep our tiniest patients safe and regulate the environment during the transition from the womb.”
The hospital explained these new warmers give nurses access to advanced tools when caring for infants, such as a pulse oximeter and heat sensor.
The award-winning Panda Warmer also allows newborns to remain comfortably at their mothers’ bedside while monitoring the baby’s vitals, body temperature and weight.
The Harriet H. Samuelsson Foundation supports organizations that provide services for the health, education, guidance or welfare of children and adolescents in Ventura County, as well as organizations that are engaged in cancer research.
Since 2004, The Harriet H. Samuelsson Foundation has provided funding to SJRMC for the purchase and maintenance of advanced equipment for the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the Maternity and Birth Center.
