Salvation Army to cut Bell Ringing locations by half due to coronavirus
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Salvation Army’s biggest fundraiser of the year could be in jeopardy this holiday season.
"We are A little bit worried about the situation that we have with COVID-19," said Major Villanea at The Salvation Army Major.
Due to the pandemic, Major Vicky Villanea says this year’s Bell Ringing will be at a disadvantage with half the locations eliminated. "The families and the children in need and we need a lot of help."
"This year we have only five locations. The money is to help the community for poor families for Christmas. We’re bringing all the toys and the food for them," said Major Alexis Villanea at The Salvation Army.
One of the bell ringer locations this year will right at The Salvation Army Headquarters on 200 West Cook Street.
"We only pray that the Lord will bless us this very moment but we want to ask the community to support us in this difficult time," said Vicky Villanea.
The Salvation Army will be working hard to maintain physical distance among volunteers and supporters at all times.
They will also be sanitizing each kettle every hour.
