Santa Maria seniors that are prepared for college to be honored in ceremony
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Some Santa Maria High School seniors are receiving special recognition this week.
Those seniors who are already academically prepared for universities will receive recognition during a drive through event. The drive-thru will be in the Thornburg parking lot on Thursday.
There are about 250 seniors who have met the university entry mandates.
At the event they will pick up a certificate, lawn sign, senior toolkit and enter a raffle for prizes.
Their student action plan will help them navigate the upcoming school year.
Assistant Principal Monica Pallan says these students deserve this event.
"Over the past few years, these students have risen to the challenging course work," Pallan said. "They deserve recognition for the dedication they have committed to their education."
Pallan said all staff is welcome to join.
The event begins Thursday at 2 p.m.
