Oxnard Police Department receives grant for alcohol regulations
OXNARD, Calif. - The Oxnard Police Department was selected to receive a $20,000 grant from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for use on alcohol regulations.
Oxnard PD plans to use the grant to address the issue of underage drinking and to make sure alcohol-licensed businesses are complying with applicable laws and regulations.
This grant will fund several types of operations, including; “Minor Decoy” operations, “Shoulder Tap” operations, and “IMPACT” (Informed Merchants Preventing Alcohol-Related Crime Tendencies) operations.
Minor Decoy operations have been used by California law enforcement since 1987 and help ensure that stores are checking the age of customers who attempt to purchase alcohol.
The Decoy Shoulder Tap program deters aid in underage drinking by sending a minor decoy to solicit adults outside of alcohol-selling stores to purchase the alcohol for them.
