Thousands show up for Santa Barbara’s Women’s March

SANTA BARBARA'S WOMEN'S MARCH

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Thousands of people took to the streets at the annual Women's March in downtown Santa Barbara.

The event was part of the national movement to unify everyone.

It started at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse where participants gathered with various signs. The procession was followed by a dance performance and several speakers.

The people marched down State Street with their signs while singing a variety of chants.

“I want my children to see what it's like to represent and stand up for women and women's rights and to come together as a community and so it's normal for them and not something weird,” said participant Nikki Elias.

Organizers said in addition to being together as a community, the march was also about sharing ideas, getting involved and helping people be connected.
