GARDA SERAI, Afghanistan (AP) — Thousands of people have attended the funeral of a Taliban government minister killed in an Islamic State suicide bombing. Cabinet member Khalil Haqqani was the most high-profile casualty of an assault in Afghanistan since the Taliban took power three years ago. He died in a blast Wednesday at the Ministry for Refugees and Repatriation in Kabul along with five others. Top officials including Afghanistan’s foreign minister were at Thursday’s funeral in the country’s east amid tight security. An affiliate of the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the ministry attack.
