2 arrested on gun charges in Ventura
VENTURA, Calif. - Two men are facing gun charges after they were arrested in Ventura Sunday morning.
At around 12:25 a.m., deputies assigned to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office Detention Services Division and the Sheriff's Gang Unit arrested Isaac Zuniga of Santa Paula and Julyan Reinhart of Oxnard on complaints of illegal possession of firearms and child endangerment.
The detectives and deputies were conducting directed enforcement operations when they stopped a vehicle in the area of Thompson Boulevard and Figueroa Street in Ventura.
During the stop, deputies contacted Zuniga and Reinhart, as well as a 15-year-old passenger. Zuniga told deputies he had a loaded firearm in the center console. When deputies searched the vehicle, they found an unregistered loaded revolver in the center console and a loaded revolver -- which turned out to be stolen -- under the front passenger seat.
Zuniga and Reinhart were arrested for numerous firearms charges as well as child endangerment. They were both booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
The two were arrested as part of a Department of Homeland Security grant named Operation Stonegarden. Operation Stonegarden targets narcotics trafficking and related illegal activities in Ventura County.
