Rock scaling operation to impact traffic on northbound Hwy 101 in Gaviota

A stretch of Highway 101 northbound in Gaviota will be closed at certain times Wednesday for a rock scaling operation.

Caltrans says the northbound lanes of Highway 101 from Mariposa Reina to Gaviota State Park will be closed intermittently on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

CHP officers will stop traffic during the rolling closures, which will allow Caltrans crews to clear rocks from the highway.

Caltrans says the project will boost public safety.

Drivers should plan for about a 10 minute delay.

There will be electronic message boards warning drivers that they should be prepared to stop as they’re approaching the work zone.
